The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of People with Disability marked a significant step towards recognising and addressing the challenges faced by people with disability in Australia. Following the release of the Commission’s recommendations, both the Commonwealth and ACT Governments provided their responses, outlining their commitments to addressing these issues. But how well are these commitments aligned with the needs and priorities of the disability community?
We evaluated the government responses to answer this question, by creating a scorecard. This scorecard highlights where the governments have committed to implementing changes, where they are still deliberating, and where they have shown reluctance or outright rejection.
