AFI made a submission to the Committee on Economy and Gender and Economic Equality’s inquiry into housing and rental affordability and also appeared before the inquiry. Our submission, which was endorsed by Rights and Inclusion Australia called for growing public housing and ensuring this is available, accessible and well maintained with proximity to transport, commercial centres and services and the expansion of non cluster accessible community housing run by not for profit housing providers. We also support a package of market development work and to foster more socially responsible, sector-wide leasehold application processes along with a comprehensive, detailed overview of unmet housing needs for people with disability of all ages to inform supply.
