Advocacy for Inclusion provides independent individual, self and systemic advocacy for people with disabilities.

Advocacy for Inclusion is a Disabled Peoples Organisation which means our board, members and staff are a majority of people with disabilities.

We represent Canberra’s most marginalised and isolated people with disabilities, those with cognitive disabilities and/or significant communication barriers.

We work within a human rights framework and acknowledge the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Advocacy for Inclusion is signed onto the ACT Human Rights Act.

The Control & Choice Expo is coming!

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is about to launch in Canberra and people with disabilities are being asked to develop a vision about what their supports and services should look like.

"What happens if you've never known what's out there or been allowed to decide what you want?" asked Christina Ryan, General Manager at Advocacy for Inclusion. "Many people with disabilities have had to get by with whatever is given to them, and have never had the opportunity to make choices about what services or equipment they use. That will all change with the NDIS."

The Control & Choice Expo provides the first opportunity for Canberrans with disabilities to see what is out there and what they can choose to purchase with their National Disability Insurance Scheme funds.

Everything from wheelchairs to parenting services, domestic services to life coaching, employment supports to accessible travel agents. "The range of products and services available is enormous", continued Ms Ryan.

"Advocacy for Inclusion decided to put on this Expo when we realised that people with disabilities had no idea what the NDIS might do for them, and how their life might become the life that they want. We are very excited by the enormous range and the great ideas that will be on offer this Thursday 22 May at EPIC."

Many new providers will establish in Canberra for the first time to take advantage of the NDIS, and many of these will be at the Expo. There will be over 100 exhibitors.

"This is a very exciting time for people with disabilities, and the Control & Choice Expo is a fantastic opportunity to start taking advantage of the NDIS," enthused Ms Ryan.
