ACT Budget 2017 – Recognising Marginalisation

Advocacy for Inclusion is attending the ACT Budget lock up on 6 June 2017. We will be looking for a response to the recommendations made in our Submission to ACT Budget Consultation 2017-18 in which we call on the ACT Government to “Recognise that specialist disability responses to justice processes would reduce marginalisation and inequality for people with disabilities in the ACT.”

In addition to addressing justice responses, we are also looking for commitments by the ACT Government in the areas of representation, violence, parenting, guardianship, accommodation and the implementation of the National Disability Strategy 2010-2020 to improve the lives of Canberrans with disabilities.

A full analysis of the Budget will be posted on our website: www.advocacyforinclusion.org

Now is the time to continue human rights based social reforms for better inclusion of people with disabilities in all facets of the community.
